#6: Prepare Them For the Worst
It is pretty amazing just how simple human psychology is. The ploy is so simple – create a fictitious scenario that is worse than the truth, pretend the fictitious scenario has occurred and elicit the relevant reaction, then switch it out for the real scenario thereby lessening its perceived negative impact.

This might be one of the oldest tricks in the book but it still takes a fair deal of skill to really elevate it from a simple trick into an art form. Anyone can pull this off once but it’s pulling it off regularly that demands learning how to use it in the right place, at the right time, and to the right extent.
