Securing the president’s safety is a protocol for the Secret Service. However, unanticipated public interactions, known as ‘working the rope’, significantly elevate stress levels, pushing agents’ expertise to its limits.
In these spontaneous situations, crowds are unpredictable, forcing agents to be exceptionally vigilant. A mere hand in a pocket can trigger suspicion, demanding constant awareness and quick thinking to identify potential threats.
