There’s a New Foreman in Town
“I had a significant staff meeting to plan for the upcoming year, particularly regarding holidays and scheduling. During the meeting, I asked the owner if we should email him or the scheduler directly with our holiday requests. He responded, “Both.” So, I agreed to email my request but mentioned that I would be away for two weeks, specifying the dates. He approved it but insisted on receiving an email. I promptly sent an email to him, the scheduler, and my foreman, including the dates.”
“When my vacation days arrived, on the last day of my time off, I sent a message to my foreman. He responded by stating that I hadn’t informed him about taking time off and threatened to suspend me without pay for two weeks. Naturally, this didn’t sit well with me. I calmly reminded him that I had sent emails and that he was present during our discussion of the specific dates in the staff meeting. Me, the owner of the company, and the foreman had a meeting in which the owner fired my foreman and offered me the position as the new foreman for the crews.”
