#5: Secret Pen Pals
Introducing your future husband or wife to your parents is always hard, as you don’t know how they’re going to react and whether or not they’d be welcoming and approving. For this woman, it was even more complicated, as she had to introduce her white boyfriend to her father, who faced a lot of prejudice during his lifetime. Their first meeting didn’t go very well, but she was happily surprised to see them getting along so well after a couple of meetings.
When she was clearing out her dad’s things recently, she found out the reason for this change of heart. As it turns out, after their initial meeting, her partner wrote heartfelt letters to her father about his love for his daughter, his immense respect for him and his family, his intentions about their relationship, and his future career. The letters had won over her father, and they’ve become close confidants since then.
