#48: These Boots Are Made for Walking
As I’ve mentioned previously in this article, the United States has a real love of cars. And while I don’t know if I would agree with this statement that it is more socially acceptable to drive than walk, I would definitely agree that it’s more common to drive, simply for the sake of ease.

In our defense, though, many Americans live in communities that are just not built for walking. Getting to your destination could involve walking on the shoulder because there is no sidewalk or darting across a dangerous street because there is no crossing option made available. It’s a problem and we need to fix it, but it’s not a problem that’s going to be fixed by shaming individuals.
