I’m not super sure what this next person means about treating elections as sporting events. Are they thinking about rallies that politicians do while on the campaign trail mark? Because I suppose that those can get ridiculous, although the USA isn’t the only place that does that.

But if they mean the actual act of voting, then I can assure you, there’s nothing in the world that’s less like a sporting event. Voting involves going to a local school or library and standing in line for several centuries. So unless you go to really boring sporting events, it is not like a sporting event.
